16 Fun Photo Backdrop Ideas for Your Next Party

The photo booth has quickly become a party essential. Whether you’re planning a wedding, throwing an office holiday party, or just feel like jazzing up your next house party, creating a fun backdrop is a great way to set the tone for any big event. Plus, photo booth photos are just insanely ‘gram-able, don’t you think? Here are 16 ideas to get your creative juices flowing. Say cheese! :)

1. DIY Herringbone Backdrop
First up, a backdrop inspired by the classic textile pattern of herringbone. The pattern was created by sewing together chevron-shaped pieces of paper in a vertical bunting-like fashion.

2. Floral Backdrop
How cool is this? It’s like an English Garden just popped up in your apartment! You could achieve something similar with astroturf or a giant photo of grass with actual flowers pinned to the top.

3. Pinwheel Backdrop
Paper pinwheels are a fun and easy way to add a nostalgic vibe to any event. We love the rustic color palette seen in this example.

4. Streamers + Pom Poms
These streamers and tissue paper pom poms look almost neon against the mountainous backdrop. And they complement the floral design beautifully.

5. Balloon Wall
For a super affordable backdrop, cover an entire wall with balloons! If you don’t feel like going the helium route, simply blow up and stick on the wall. So fun!

6. Paper Garlands
Sometimes all you need is a little colorful card stock or construction paper to turn your wall into an instant photo book.

7. Chalkboard Backdrop
This lovely chalkboard backdrop is definitely a popular option on Pinterest. We love the idea of letting people write custom messages or combining the photo backdrop with a chalkboard guestbook.

8. Folded Paper Wall Backdrop
We’re loving the dimensionality of this colorful backdrop, created with just paper, scissors, and tape.

9. Gold Sequin Backdrop
The folks at Oh Happy Day definitely know how to throw a party, and this idea for a New Year’s bash is right up our alley.

10. Balloon Bunch
If you’re having a party al fresco, there’s no better backdrop than a bright blue sky, but a bunch of balloons add a nice punch of color to the scene.

11. Flower Backdrop
We think you could totally DIY this with some fake flowers or make paper ones of your own.

12. Rainbow Fringe Garland
So. Much. Color! We are totally swooning over this rainbow party.

13. Fabric + Bunting
This carnival-themed wedding went for the traditional bunting approach. We love the gold frame as photo prop!

14. Cinco de Mayo Fringe
In our books, fringe is a friend for any holiday. Customize with your favorite colors, your wedding palette, or use every color under the sun!

15. Paper Circle Backdrop
Paper circles? Seriously. Who knew they could look so awesome and mod?

16. Colorful Duvet Cover
For my Save the Date video, we used our Bianca Green duvet cover as a backdrop. Many of the comforters and duvet covers featured in our recent roundup would do an equally good job and definitely takes less time than making a thousand pom poms… though we might do that too :)
